Are you one of those ladies like me who NEEDS chocolate after dinner??
Oh wait, did I say after dinner, I also meant after lunch, for a snack, with my breakfast, before bed… #givemeallthechocolate!!! OK maybe that’s a leeeetle overboard but sometimes we need, we want, we crave chocolate, right?!
I learned a little trick from Metabolic Effect that I want to share with you. Let’s call it a craving buster because that is exactly what it does!! And it’s not one of those tricks… you know the ones like go for a walk, get your mind off of it, distract yourself with something… Those craving busters work but sometimes we actually need something that satisfies us.
ENTER: CRAVE Cocoa
Yep. You heard me right we are going to bust our sweet cravings for chocolate with chocolate. Guilt FREE!!!
So let me share with you all about cocoa and its benefits!! Cocoa powder, has many uses, but today we are going to discuss what it can do for our cravings!
Let’s get science-y for a moment!
Cocoa powder has a ton of really amazing things in it including: phenyethlamine (PEA), serotonin, tyramine and anandamide. These different compounds release endorphins, boost levels of dopamine which give us a sense of well-being, act as a an anti-depressant, help us feel good and calm, reduce anxiety, and balance our mood. In addition to all of this… cocoa powder has magnesium which is a good source of fiber and it can help us fight cravings, reduce hunger, and maintain satiety throughout the day.
I can’t think of one person who wouldn’t benefit from ALL of these amazing things, can you??
So how do we use it?
- 1-2 Tablespoons of CRAVE in hot water (or milk of choice) with sweetener of your choice is a good hot cocoa.
- 1-2 Tablespoons of CRAVE with water (or milk of choice) with ice -- shake well is a good cold cocoa.
- 1-2 Tablespoons of CRAVE in a protein shake or smoothie
Use CRAVE cocoa any time of the day that you need to help you keep your hunger, energy, and cravings in check.
- Before a meal
- After a meal
- As a snack
- In the morning if you are fasting
- In the evening to avoid a late night binge fest
